#MicroblogMonday – I had something

I had a cute/witty/funny title and short blog post for today and then I forgot what it was that I wanted to write. Instead you get a rambling me with nothing really important to say.

I have several craft projects in the works and not much energy to get them fully started or completed.
wp-image-1849984586jpg.jpg
I have enough buttons, bought second hand, to make heaps of cards, bracelets, necklaces or anything else my kids and I desire.
wp-image-637839879jpg.jpg
I’ve got zippers to make flowers.
wp-image-1244977498jpg.jpg
Cloth to sew bags and veggie/fruit bags, doll blankets and more.
wp-image-1797724331jpg.jpg
I’ve even got a skirt to make (I’ve had the fabric for at least two years) and a dress to take in. I just need to get my behind in gear.

What projects do you have in the works or want to have in the works?

#MicroblogMonday – Glass

I’ve not been in a mood to write or do much of anything lately. So here’s some glass bits instead, knee various states of doneness.

#MicroblogMonday – cats, glass & advent calendar

The cats have come out of hiding a tiny bit. Last night, Mr Siili and I wiggled a toy and white-face played with it. She doesn’t want you to try and touch her, but she will play some. Black-face has let me touch her once or twice, while she is under the bed. Yeah, we don’t have names for them yet, so we are calling them white-face and black-face. Original, huh?

White-face watching me. This is as far as she will come downstairs, that we know of.

I finished a couple of heart decorations today and added heads to two angels that I started 5 years ago. Pictures to come, someday.

As it is December and the countdown to Xmas is on, it is advent calendar season. I don’t remember them much, if at all, in my childhood, but here they are big. You can buy chocolate filled, toy filled, pictures only and any other fillings you can think of, usually for a price. There is also the endless diy versions too. I don’t want to feed my kids more sugar, nor buy toys for them, so I set out to create my own advent calendar with mostly crafts to do and moments to have with Paxlet and Tadbit. What we have done so far…

I gave them a set of bracelets each (,50 cents each 🙂 ).

There were glowsticks in this. We went for an evening walk with the glowsticks, then they got to take them into their bath to play.

#MicroblogMonday – It’s been a Monday

This morning started with Tadbit being awake from 4-5. I’m not sure why she was awake, as she didn’t tell me, but she sure didn’t like my raised voice just before 5 telling her to go back to sleep.

Then, a yogurt cup exploded all over the inside of my bag. Yes, it was not very smart of me to not put it in a condom (aka a plastic bag). But how was I to know that my bag would jump toward freedom as the bus doors opened because I forget to keep it leashed over my shoulder when I stood up on the bus? The plastic yogurt container was shredded upon impact. I think my bag has survived the wash.

I got two nice cuts from glass class today. On the flip side, I finished the pencil holder I was making. It’s a bit wonky, but that’s me. My box:

My next project: some hearts of all colors.

#MicroblogMonday – Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! We’re not doing much to celebrate it here, but I have put my cat ears and tail on for the day. I get lots of looks. LOL.

The kids and I made pumpkins the other day. These are mine.

The winter tires were put on my car this weekend. I’m so thankful to Mr Siili and his brother (and family). The snow can come now. In fact, I’d prefer a bit colder and snow than this hovering just above freezing. The damp cold just goes to my bones.

Daylight savings was this last weekend. I forgot about it and thought the kids had actually let us sleep in until 7:20! It took me two hours to realize the time had changed and Tadbit had actually woken me up at 6:20. This morning was even worse.
Let me just say, kids + daylight savings = suckage!

I’m heading to my glass class again tonight. I’m by far the youngest person there, at 40 years of age. There are a couple of Finns that have lived in the US for many years and one Swedish-Finnish lady, but I still feel like I am the only foreigner. Everyone is nice and their works are amazing. I feel I need to step up my game and do something where I actually take my time to do it properly. Most of all, it’s nice to have a few hours of total me time.

#MicroblogMonday – Glass works again

And I forgot to blog again last night.

Yesterday late afternoon I went to check out a glass club. They do Tiffany style work (stained glass windows, lamps), fused glass (pieces melted together) and even mosaics (bits glued onto something in a pattern). I am so excited to become a part of this club and to get back into making glass stuff.

I made my first stained glass pieces back in high school over twenty years ago. I made some roses, a pen holder, a mandala window piece and a combined mirror/glass window piece. In more recent years (still over 5 years ago), I made an angel, butterflies for a mobile and then a bunch of fused glass jewelry.

The possibilities are endless and ideas are flowing, it’s only a matter of choosing what I want to do first.

#MicroblogMonday – Bah hum…Merry Whatever

I was going to write a post today about how both kids got sick and had ear infections (Tadbit’s first and Paxlet’s second), I’m feeling under the weather, there’s no snow, I miss my family and friends, how I don’t like xmas and I’m not in the mood for it and how I feel even worse for it because I always said once I had kids I’d actually do something for xmas. But I’m over that now. I think I thought it out too much.

In reality, I have it pretty good. I have a good home, Mr Siili who loves me (even if we grump at each other at times), two kids I love more than anything (even if Paxlet tries my patience more often than I care to admit and Tadbit has found it is fun to bite me now that she has two teeth), family-in-law to bake xmas gifts for, two relatively healthy and alive cats and whatever else I’m not thinking of right now.

Paxlet made these for his daycare provider. He did it all by himself, I only closed/looped the metal so they stayed on.

I’m still not over my bah humbug-ness, but I’m in a better mood this evening than I have been the last few days. May you all have a merry whatever you celebrate!
